You own your memories. Deleting your account permanently removes all of your data from our systems — entries, photos, journals, comments, and account information. This action cannot be undone.
The fastest way to delete your account is directly inside the On This Day app. Follow these steps:
Open the app and go to your Profile
Tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.
Open Settings
Tap the gear icon ⚙ in the top-right corner of your Profile screen.
Go to Account
Scroll down and tap Settings → Account.
Tap "Delete Account"
At the bottom of the Account screen, tap Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm by typing DELETE to prevent accidental removal.
Confirm deletion
Once confirmed, your account is queued for permanent deletion. Your data is removed from active systems within 30 days and from backup archives within 90 days. You will receive a confirmation email.
If you want to remove individual entries or photos rather than your entire account:
Delete an entry: Open the entry → tap the … menu (top right) → Delete Entry.
Delete a photo or video: Open the entry → tap the photo → Delete Media. The file is removed from cloud storage immediately.
Delete a journal: Open the journal → tap Settings (top right) → Delete Journal.
Download your data first: Settings → Privacy → Download My Data.
If you no longer have access to the app, you may submit a deletion request by email from the address registered to your On This Day account.

Please include your display name and the email you registered with. We will confirm receipt within 5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once confirmed, all of the following is removed:
All journal entries, text, prompts, and ledger data
All photos and videos uploaded to the service
AI-generated reflections and journal insights
Profile information, display name, and avatar
Shared journal memberships and comments
Push notification tokens and device records
Note: Subscription billing records are held by Apple App Store or Google Play. To cancel your subscription, do so via your device's subscription management screen before deleting your account.
